The classroom has a key role in giving kids the assets they need to stay healthy.

As an educator, you have a special connection with kids. They trust your guidance. And we know that! That’s why STEPS partners closely with Southington Public Schools.

Did you know that Southington has its own curriculum that helps our youth make healthy choices and avoid the risks of substance use? STEPS built and launched this custom, local curriculum for the 2022 school year.

There are many ways that educators can get involved in our coalition and become a partner in prevention.

  • Attend a STEPS meeting, training, or event to stay up to date on trends

  • Learn about C3, our local prevention, health, and safety curriculum

  • Support the STEPS Youth Council and other student led-clubs at your school
  • Advocate for clear school policies around health, safety, and substance use prevention

Our Focus on Youth

STEPS was founded in 2007 with a mission to help our youth grow up to be caring, competent and successful. We develop programs and opportunities for young people to step up and showcase their best selves.

STEPS partners with Southington Public Schools to follow an Asset Building Classrooms (ABC) model. We also have a STEPS Youth Council and a classroom-based curriculum to improve student health and safety.
